Bridge Insurance Brokers Ltd is cementing its global operation by establishing Bridge Insurance Brokers (Europe) Cell in Malta to welcome clients and colleagues to its new Malta office – the company’s first bricks and mortar presence outside the UK.

The Cell – a Protected Broker Cell of Jatco Insurance Brokers PCC Limited – was created to provide a European base for Bridge’s International team, allowing them to offer on-the-ground support for UK-headquartered clients with European offices and domicile risks. The presence in Malta also supports the existing international reach the business has through its partnership with Brokerslink, the worldwide broking network.

Headed up by the Managing Director John Tortell and managed by the Cell Management Committee Members Roger Potts, David Horne and Jackie Mallia, the Malta office has numerous local full-time employees, supported by seconded employees.

“We are delighted to now be operating fully out of Malta. This is the culmination of two years’ hard work,” says Potts. “We have several UK clients looking to expand into Europe. Being here means we can provide the best possible service and ensure that they have cover that is compliant with the regulatory changes that have occurred since the UK’s departure from the EU.”

The Cell was licenced by the Malta Financial Services Authority on the 5th December 2023 and the second Cell Management Committee Meeting in Malta was held in October 2024.

“We realised we needed a central European location in order to support our clients fully as they navigate the changing business landscape within Europe,” says Horne. “Bridge’s ethos has always been to provide the most personal, bespoke level of service to our clients, and having people on the ground here will mean we can continue to do that.”
